Designed and fabricated by Solid in collaboration with The Apartment. Conceived with the busy urban professional in mind, YeloSpa offers traditional spa services as well as their signature sleep therapy service, the YeloCab nap. Aiming to be a refuge from the stresses of the city, the all-encompassing design of the space envelops its occupants and isolates them from the noise of the street. The space is structured by curvilinear, organic lines, avoiding hard edges, with a color scheme is based on the maroon and yellow of Tibetan monks’ robes, a combination often associated with peace and centeredness. Forms complement and echo each other throughout the space, with particular attention paid to how the light interacts with the space in order to create a subtle, warm glow throughout. Specially designed sleep therapy rooms utilize relaxing blue and red lighting and “zero gravity” chairs that raise the legs to slow circulation and create a floating, womb-like sensation.
