Designed and fabricated by Solid, King and Partners is a digital creative agency, focusing on the luxury fashion and hospitality industries. For a major expansion in 2012, they moved to a floor-through open loft space in the landmarked building at 35 Great Jones Street. The late-19th-century Romanesque Revival building is constructed from brick and terracotta, and once housed a variety of small manufacturing businesses before giving way to artists’ lofts in the 1980s. Embracing the building’s industrial past, the space retains an open plan layout and its original exposed-beam ceiling, while adding a modern twist with herringbone white oak flooring. The space maintains and ethos of simplicity and functionality while paying careful attention to each detail. The office features classic globe lighting, white lacquered custom cabinetry, Eames Project chairs, and Ligne Roset sofas. The reception desk and communal worktable are custom designs produced in collaboration with furniture designer Stéphane Hubert, each on angled blackened steel legs and topped with American Walnut slabs. The long worktable has power and cable compartments built into its steel legs to hide computer cords and keep the space clean and minimal. The office kitchen is delineated from the workspace by an island, topped with a thick white marble slab that is cantilevered on its end, creating a comfortable space to pull up a stool.
